These kids put forth a great deal of effort to help complete the playground process at both the school and the ballfield. They helped shovel pea gravel, spread woodchips, spread pea gravel, carry materials, unwrap materials, and more. Way to go, kiddos!
THE PLAYGROUND WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR USE AT 6:15 PM ON MONDAY, JULY 19! The youth who helped complete the project will have their picture taken and be able to "cut the tape" to officially complete the process. The projects for this weekend in Ridgeway involved playground improvements at both ends of town. Thanks to very generous donations from the #bk5kyouthfund Ridgeway Community School and Ridgeway Youth Baseball collaborated on exciting improvements to both of their playgrounds this weekend. Ridgeway Youth Baseball received a $21,000 grant from the BK5K Youth Fund to purchase and install new playground equipment. Thankfully, Ridgeway Parents and Community (RPAC) was able to assist Ridgeway Youth Baseball with the process to receive the grant. Ridgeway Community School received a $5,000 BK5K Youth Fund donation to purchase 2 semi loads of engineered wood fiber, an ADA compliant playground surfacing material. Saturday volunteers removed the pea gravel playground surface on the north half of the school playground and transported the pea gravel to the new playground at the ballfield. The engineered wood fiber was spread out at the school playground. Funds raised by the school's annual Miles for Smiles Fun Run were used to purchase plastic playground border to replace the decaying wooden border at the school that was originally installed in 2008. Mike Beardsley efficiently coordinated the playground project at the ballfield. We were very lucky to have received equipment and/or time from Mike Beardsley, Greg Larsen/Larsen Septic, FTX Trucking, Brian Bergler, Glen Groth, Kevin Larsen, Tim Larsen, Shawn Hornberg, Ridgeway Community School, Pug Groth, Rodney and Tammy Merchlewitz, and Tim Kohner. The laborers for the project included:
Devin Larsen, Jayden Murphy, and Dawson Hornberg make sure that the field is taken care of and looking it's best! Devin mows the lawn regularly and Jayden and Dawson ensure that the field is dragged and lined for all home games.
